Webinar: Conceptualizing a National Geospatial Software Institute
Dec 17, 2019 03:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)
The U.S. National Science Foundation has funded a project to conceptualize a national geospatial software institute (GSI) for understanding how to advance geospatial software and related sciences to serve diverse science communities and users while empowering them to make important contributions to innovation and sustainability of advanced cyberinfrastructure, including future geospatial software. This GSI conceptualization project has sought input from the broad communities of geospatial software developers and users, through three workshops, one survey, and the AAG-UCGIS Summer School on Reproducible Problem Solving with CyberGIS and Geospatial Data Science.
Based on these engagements we have developed a strategic plan draft on which we are soliciting further input from the broad geospatial-related communities. In this webinar, we will discuss the strategic plan draft, including the vision, mission, and goals of a potential GSI and gather community feedback for making the strategic plan as inclusive and strong as possible.
